Ekwe Emmanuel Chukwunonso / Environmental Design BA

“...when I saw that I could achieve the “little boy dream”, I quickly jumped at the possibility.”

Ekwe Emmanuel Chukwunonso studied Environmental Design at METU, which was a dream of his since he was a little boy. In the future, he hopes to have his own design and construction company.

Why did you choose this field, this major and what inspires you?

Right from when I was a little boy I have always loved the idea of designing a space and architecture, I had always known I wanted to design, and so when I saw that I could achieve the “little boy dream”, I quickly jumped at the possibility. I got inspired by the fact that it was a comprehensive and borderless field of design.

What were your favourite projects at METU and why?

My favorite was the design of three URBAN Pedestrian Bridge project.

What was your diploma work and why did you choose this topic?

My diploma project was a DIGITAL YOUTH CENTRE. I chose this project because it presented a good challenge for me, knowing that the present generation needs such edifice and space for interaction and knowledge exchange, all across the globe the governments are taking up the initiative to educate the youth on technology and entrepreneurship. So I thought it would be logical to have the same thing in Budapest at this place.

What did METU contribute to your professional development?

METU was very instrumental in honing my skill, my professor Marton Pintér truly pushed me to get the best out of me. I was able to dare to attempt big projects.

What does METU’s credo “Inspired by Creativity” mean to you?

I didn't so much engage with that as I was mostly online because of the pandemic.

What would you say to those, who want to apply to a university, why choose METU?

I would refer anyone to METU.

What are your plans for the future?

My plans are to own a design and construction company and also pursue an MBA program.
