METU GRADUATE SHOW -2025

METU Fashion Graduates to Debut at the 16th Budapest Central European Fashion Week

On September 1, 2025, the freshly graduated students of Budapest Metropolitan University’s (METU) BA in Textile Design and MA in Fashion and Textile Design – Fashion Specialization will unveil their diploma collections as part of the official programme of the 16th Budapest Central European Fashion Week (BCEFW). The showcase will take place in the magnificent setting of the Hungarian National Museum.

This landmark occasion marks a first in the university’s history: METU’s graduating fashion designers will present their work to an audience of invited industry professionals and the wider public as part of a prestigious international fashion event’s official schedule.

Beyond Fashion – Garments that Tell Stories

Featuring close to thirty designers, the 2025 Graduate Show goes far beyond clothing. This year’s collections revolve around the theme of self-identity: some students have launched their own brands, while others drew inspiration from family histories, generational patterns, or pressing social issues. The result is a series of collections layered with both visual and conceptual depth, far surpassing mere aesthetics.

Key themes explored in the graduate projects include:

  1. Reinterpreting personal and collective narratives
  2. The search for identity
  3. Generational heritage
  4. Self-expression and social reflection
