Outstanding Results at WorldStar STUDENT 2026

We are pleased to announce that several BA and MA students from the Graphic Design and Packaging Design programmes at Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) have qualified with their packaging designs for the WorldStar Global Packaging Awards STUDENT 2026 international competition. In total, METU students received Certificates of Merit for 10 projects.

The WorldStar Global Packaging Awards STUDENT is one of the most prestigious international student competitions in packaging design, organised by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO). The competition aims to showcase innovative, sustainable, and technologically well-founded solutions created by the next generation of professionals in the field.

In Hungary, the “gateway” to international participation is the HUNGAROPACK STUDENT Packaging Design Competition, announced by the Hungarian Association of Packaging and Materials Handling (CSAOSZ) for students pursuing higher education studies. The national competition serves both as a professional challenge and as a qualification platform for the international WorldStar STUDENT competition.

The 2025 HUNGAROPACK STUDENT competition received 83 entries from 80 students representing 7 educational institutions. METU students achieved outstanding results both in number and quality, earning recognition in multiple categories. The awarded projects demonstrated strong sustainability, systems-thinking, implementation, and technical aspects, with several qualifying for the international competition.

For the WorldStar STUDENT Awards 2026, a total of 246 entries were submitted from 90 educational institutions across 23 countries. Given the strength and scale of the international field, every recognition represents significant professional value. Altogether, 22 Hungarian students were included among the international awardees, of whom 10 projects were created by METU students. The awarded designs will be featured in the official WorldStar STUDENT Winners Brochure and on the event’s official platforms, providing international professional visibility.

These Hungarian achievements are the result of a multi-level professional system involving both national competition and international qualification. The emphasis lies not only on the number of awards, but also on the strength of the international field and the students’ conscious thematic focus on sustainability, systems thinking, and feasibility.

METU is proud that its students continue to perform at the forefront of international universities, demonstrating creativity, responsibility and professional excellence on a global platform.
