Film Screening and Discussion Exploring the Global Success of Parasite

A special film programme will take place at the Korean Cultural Center in Budapest on 24 August 2026. The event will feature a screening of Bong Joon-ho’s Academy Award-winning film Parasite, followed by an English-language discussion led by film expert Dr Teréz Vincze.
In recent years, South Korean film has become a major force in global cinema. Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite represents a defining moment in this development: the film achieved extraordinary international success and reached audiences across cultural and linguistic boundaries.
During the post-screening discussion, Dr Teréz Vincze, Associate Professor at the ELTE Department of Film Studies, will examine the factors behind the growing popularity of Korean cinema in the West and its rise to worldwide recognition.
The event welcomes everyone interested in film, culture and the global impact of South Korean cinema.
