SELF–SPACE–MAP: METU Media Design Graduates Explore the Boundaries of Reality

What happens when physical and virtual realities merge? Where do memory, healing, control and identity intersect? These questions are at the heart of SELF–SPACE–MAP, a new exhibition by graduating students of the Media Design BA and MA programs at Budapest Metropolitan University (METU), on view from 28 May to 19 June 2026 at the Hungarian Workshop Gallery (MMG) in Budapest.

The exhibition navigates the liminal territories between existence and non-existence, memory and transformation, personal perception and collective experience. Through immersive installations, moving image works and interactive digital environments, visitors are invited into spaces where reality becomes fluid and new forms of perception emerge.

The featured works map inner landscapes shaped by memory, imagination and healing processes. Using contemporary digital technologies and experimental media practices, the artists create sensory “gateways” between physical and virtual dimensions, questioning fixed notions of reality and identity.
