Graduation Ceremony at Uránia: METU Celebrates 162 International Graduates

On 22 July 2026, 162 international students of Budapest Metropolitan University reached one of the most significant milestones of their university years. They received their degrees at two graduation ceremonies held at the Uránia National Film Theatre. In the morning, 58 graduates of the Faculty of Art and Creative Industries celebrated their achievements, followed by 104 graduates of the Faculty of Business, Communication and Tourism. Family members, friends, faculty members and university leaders joined the graduates on this special occasion. Altogether, 593 graduates and guests attended the two ceremonies.

The graduates were first welcomed by Dr. habil. Zsuzsanna Tóth Naár, Acting Rector of Budapest Metropolitan University. She was followed by Dr. Zsuzsanna Pörczi, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Art and Creative Industries, who addressed the graduates of the art programmes, while Dr. Viktor Friedmann, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Communication and Tourism, welcomed the graduates of the business, communication and tourism programmes.
At the ceremony beginning at 9 a.m., students graduating from the English-language Animation, Design and Art Management, Environmental Design, Film and Media Studies, and Graphic Design programmes received their degrees. Graphic Design had the largest number of graduates, while students of Animation, Film and Media Studies, Design and Art Management, and Environmental Design also bid farewell to their university years that morning.

At the second ceremony of the day, graduates from the fields of business, communication and tourism received their degrees. The 104 students completed their studies in programmes including Business Administration and Management, Commerce and Marketing, Communication and Media Studies, Marketing, Master of Business Administration, International Business Economics, International Relations, Tourism Management, Tourism and Catering, and Management and Leadership.
One of the most personal moments of the second ceremony came when Rajapaksha Mudiyanselage Chamila Prabhodhani Bandara, a graduate of the Management and Leadership programme, shared heartfelt reflections with her fellow graduates and the audience on behalf of the graduating class.
During the degree presentation, graduates took to the stage one by one, where they received personal congratulations not only from the university leadership but also from the heads of their respective programmes. The ceremony of the Faculty of Art and Creative Industries concluded with a group photo on stage, with graduates and programme heads coming together to capture one of their final shared moments at the university. At the larger ceremony of the Faculty of Business, Communication and Tourism, the graduates gathered for a group photo in the auditorium.
A total of 24 graduates received degrees with honours or other distinctions in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements.
