An American delegation visited Budapest Metropolitan University as part of the Hungarian Summit 2025.

As part of the Hungarian Summit 2025, a sixteen-member American delegation visited Hungary, with one of their key stops being Budapest Metropolitan University (METU).

On June 2, members of the delegation participated in a workshop jointly organized by METU and the Hungarian Hub team, focusing on opportunities for cooperation in higher education. The event also featured the participation of Honorary Consul Piros Pazaurek and Chief Organizer Judit Szőllősi.

The prestigious event aimed to explore avenues of collaboration between American and Hungarian higher education institutions and to promote student mobility. The workshop was opened by Dr. Tamás Gergely Kucsera, Rector of Budapest Metropolitan University, who emphasized the institution’s strong commitment to international partnerships—particularly its past and current collaborations with U.S. universities. He highlighted METU’s strategic alliance with Arizona State University as one of the cornerstones of the university’s global mission and underlined METU’s ambition to become a leading institution for innovation in the region.

As part of the program, a panel discussion featured distinguished experts who shared insights and experiences on international student mobility, the challenges of launching joint degree programs, and the ongoing transformation of higher education in the 21st century.

Panelists included Paula Hentz, Director of Global Affairs at Stetson University, Judit Trunkos, Associate Professor at Robert Morris University, István Vilmos Kovács, Director of Methodology at METU, Zsuzsanna Pörczi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries at METU, and a representative of Széchenyi István University in Győr.

The participants agreed that international cooperation and joint academic programs play a key role in enhancing the student experience and driving institutional innovation.

Budapest Metropolitan University was honored to host the members of the American delegation and reaffirm its commitment to global knowledge exchange and the deepening of international partnerships.
