Building Bridges in Japan – METU Strengthens Strategic Partnerships Across Asia

As part of our mission to expand meaningful international collaboration, Dr. habil. Péter Rada, Vice Rector for International Affairs at METU, spent a productive week in Japan within the framework of Erasmus+ mobility, engaging with key partner institutions committed to global education.

At our long term partner ISI Gakuen Tokyo Business and Language College, Dr. Rada delivered a lecture to students and held in-depth discussions on expanding cooperation. Both sides reaffirmed their intent to:

·       Increase the number of students participating in the 2+2 program;

·       Explore employment opportunities in Japan for METU graduates.

A special thanks to President Katsuhiko Namikawa, whose continuous support for Hungary — dating back to the post-system-change period — has been invaluable in nurturing our partnership.

The visit also included Toyo University, a globally recognized institution with a strong international footprint. During a fruitful meeting with Vice President Tosiya Aramaki, we formally exchanged the Erasmus+ agreement, paving the way for increased student and faculty mobility.

Finally, METU made its first official visit to Chiba Institute of Technology, a Cintana Alliance member and a valuable partner in our strategic collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU). Discussions focused on leveraging the Alliance to benefit students through joint research and enhanced academic cooperation.

These partnerships reflect METU’s growing global presence and reaffirm our commitment to preparing students for a connected, international future. Japan’s innovation-driven, excellence-oriented higher education system is a natural match for our ambitions.
