Our 10th edition at METU!

On 17 October 2026, we are celebrating the 10th edition of the METU × Eliasol Clothes Swap. This time again, the Institute of Art and Design Theory at Budapest Metropolitan University invites everyone to a free clothes swap, talks and creative, sustainability-focused workshops.

What happens to the clothes we once loved but no longer wear? Can something that is simply waiting in our wardrobe become someone else’s new favourite? And how can we think about fashion without giving up self-expression, the excitement of something new, or our personal style?

We are not only looking for answers to these questions – we are also creating opportunities for change.

Alongside the clothes swap, Hungarian and international speakers will explore sustainable fashion, environmental awareness and conscious consumption. Our international guest speaker will bring a global perspective to the programme with a talk in English. Together, we will explore how we can rethink our own habits, what it means to approach fashion responsibly today, and what role individual choices, creativity and community can play in this.

Creativity will also take centre stage throughout the afternoon: you can create a unique silk flower that can give a new character to an existing garment, as well as make your own keychain. The workshops share a common idea: rethinking what already exists. We do not necessarily need new things – often, all it takes is looking at what surrounds us from a different perspective.

The clothes swap is therefore about much more than refreshing your wardrobe: it is an afternoon of meeting, exchanging, inspiration and collective creativity, where sustainability becomes tangible through clothes, objects and personal choices rather than remaining an abstract concept.

Open continuously from 14:00–17:00.

The workshops focus on reuse and sustainable thinking, showing how existing objects, textiles and waste materials can be given a new function, meaning or form.
